Let us extend to you the warmest welcome
to Durango, Colorado and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Your visit means that you have become a part of the continuous living history of a true American Treasure, the D&SNGRR.

You will experience today the same ride, the same views, and the same adventure that our passengers have done for more than 126 years.

Some of us are railfans, some are history buffs, and some just want to see all of God's majesty in the Colorado wilderness. Perhaps you just want it all. The D&SNGRR is first and foremost a railroad. We operate like all the big trains, except we are 127 years old this year and we run coal-fired, steam-powered engines. The D&SNGRR is history made up of original equipment, maintained to
perfection, operated and kept up by people today using skills long lost to ordinary endeavors.

Our history protects and preserves the very human character that made our country great. And, the wilderness! On our railroad you will experience Colorado at its best. . . wildlife, waterfalls, majestic peaks, all from the view of an 1880's passenger. You will see places you can get to only by foot or by train. Railroad, history, and the wilderness; you get it all on the D&SNGRR.

The most important part of our mission is you. . . it is to give you an experience you will never forget. Riding the D&SNGRR you are now a part of history. You are now at one with the wilderness.

You are now an 1882 railroader. Welcome aboard! We're glad you're here.
