Spur 66 Corridor
Estes Park's Spur 66 corridor is one of the best kept secrets in this resort area and has entertained visitors for well over 100 years. It is the site of the original entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.
With the Big Thompson River running right through the heart of Spur 66, this is one of Estes Park's most scenic areas. It is convenient to Rocky Mountain National Park as well as downtown Estes Park.
In the center of the Spur, you will find the Dunraven Inn (970-586-6409), also known as the Rome of the Rockies. This is one of Estes Park's premiere restaurants, serving delicious Italian food, great steaks and fresh fish for many years.
Horseback riding, always a favorite activity in Estes Park, is well represented in the Spur 66 corridor by Jacksons Stables (970-586-3341, x 1140) which operates out of the YMCA facility and Cowpoke Corner Corral (970-586-5890). These two facilities offer rides into the National Park and surrounding areas from one to four hours. With well trained guides and well cared for horses, guests will find a safe and enjoyable experience while enjoying the incredible beauty of the area.
Resorts in the Spur 66 area range from rustic to luxurious. The variance of lodging reflects the great diversity of the Spur.
