COLORADO GOLF ASSOCIATIONS
Colorado Golf Association/Colorado Women's Golf Association
Amateur golf in the state of Colorado is governed by two of the most successful golf associations in the country: the Colorado Golf Association (CGA) and the Colorado Women's Golf Association (CWGA). Both associations were founded in the early 1900's for the general purpose of promoting and preserving the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf in the state of Colorado. Much time has passed and the associations have grown considerably, yet the founding principals remain unscathed.
The CGA and CWGA are each comprised of individual golfers and the member clubs to which those golfers belong. The associations' memberships are each serviced by a volunteer Board of Directors, volunteer standing committees, and professional staff members. The CGA is comprised of over 250 golf clubs of amateur men and juniors with a member-ship totaling over 46,000 individuals. The CWGA serves the amteur women golfersthroughout the state and membership totals reach nearly 19,000 women and over 270 member clubs.
An amateur golfer becomes a member of either the CGA or the CWGA as soon as they establish an official USGA Handicap Index within the state of Colorado. Obtaining a Handicap Index is simple. All you have to do is join one of your gender respective associations' member clubs. Member clubs exist at nearly every golf course in the state. In addition, several non-real-estate leagues have established membership as an option to golfers who like to play different facilities with their organized group.
Once your membership is active, you receive several member benefits, one of which is Colorado Golf, the Official Guide to Golf in Colorado. This book is mailed directly to all active members at the beginning of each golf season. In addition, members receive quarterly newsletters, eligibility to participate in state championships, handicap support, hole-in-one certificates, and much more. One of the most valuable benefits our members receive is the customer support provided by the office staff. They are available regularly to assist you in any way that they can.
If you need assistance with establishing your membership, please contact either the CGA office at 303.366.GOLF (4653) or the CWGA office at 303.366.PUTT (7888)

Colorado PGA Founded in 1957, the Colorado PGA became the 31st Section of the PGA of America. The original membership of 30 has grown to 750. Our geographic territory embraces the state of Colorado, Eastern Wyoming and Western South Dakota. Our members are employed at over 225 golf courses, clubs, and teaching facilities throughout the Section.
In lieu of making a living by playing on the professional tours, our members are the primary representatives of golf in local communities. They are experts in business management, tournament operations, the Rules of Golf, customer service, mer-chandising, food and beverage control, and instruc-tion. Put yourself in the hands of a certified PGA Professional when you need help with your game.
Dedicated in May 2003, the Colorado PGAHistorical Center invites visitors to step back in time and share in the rich 45-year history of the Colorado PGA and professional golf in Colorado.
This one-of-a-kind collection of memorabilia and photographs are prominently displayed to docu-ment the achievements and highlights of the Colorado PGA and its member golf professionals.
