Leadville Trail 100
The leadville trail 100 mtb is one of several races presented under the Leadville Trail 100 banner - an event series that was founded by
Kenneth Chlouber. His "Race Across the Sky" vision was seen as a way to make Leadville famous and bring in visitors during a period of economic downturn. This is a race for the welltrained athlete. Last year, seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong finished second behind six time defending champ Dave Wiens. Half the competitors drop out before the 30 hour time limit as they face dehydration, unforgiving trails, unpredictable weather and altitudes ranging from 9000 to 12,600 ft.
