HOW TO GET HERE

Location

Ouray is located in the mountains of Southwestern Colorado on U.S. Hwy 550, 70 miles north of Durango and 98 miles south of Grand Junction. The portion of Hwy 550 between Silverton and Ouray is referred to as the Million Dollar Highway.

Transportation

Travel to Ouray by automobile or fly into
one of several nearby locations. The closest
regional airports are located in Montrose,
Telluride, Grand Junction or Durango.
Car rentals are available at all of the
surrounding airports.

Topography: Ouray is surrounded by the mountains of the San Juan Range, the youngest and most rugged range of the Rocky Mountains, with peaks surrounding the town rising to 13,000 feet.

Summer Weather: A typical summer day is sunny, in the 70s and 80s with evening temperatures in the 50s. The humidity is very low, with brief afternoon shower typical in July

Winter Weather: 140 inches average snowfall. A typical winter day is sunny and bright, with highs averaging in the 40s and lows in the high teens. Snowstorms are sometimes heavy. Although not always a necessary, it is advisable to have four-wheel drive, snow tires or chains when visiting Colorado during the winter months.
