The Vail Recreation district's schedule for the 2009 La sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running series is set offering runners a total of 52 miles and 16,475 vertical feet in elevation gain on Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain's scenic trails.
named best race series of 2008 by regional magazine colorado runner, this summer's six-races series takes place saturdays and sundays and offers distances ranging from five kilometers (3.2 miles) to 14.5 miles. individual race costs are $25* for pre-registration or $35* on race-day. runners also can register for the entire race series for $125 by June 5. registration is available at www.vailrec.com or at www.active.com.

8am ~ Park: Vail Village Structure
{Named best trail race by Colorado Runner in 2006, the HillClimb will test local, regional and national runners with a 7.5 mile climb from Vail Village to Vail Mountain's summit, a gain of 2,500 vertical feet.}
La Sportiva Vail Half Marathon

8am ~ Park: Vail Village Structure
note: Gondola will be open from 8:15-9:15 for spectators to access the finish line.
{Runners of the Vail Half Marathon will test themselves on a course that's just over the half marathon distance with an average grade of 7 percent. The half marathon boasts a 4,020 ft climb up roads on Vail Mountain with a high point on the course at 11,653 ft.}
La Sportiva Berry Picker Trail Run
(598 Vail ValleY dri Ve; Behind the Gold Peak Children's Center)
8am ~ Park: Vail Village Structure
{The route for the 4.3 mile Berry Picker starts at an elevation of 8,238 feet and ascends to 10,346 feet to finish at the top of Eagle's Nest. The average grade is 12 percent on single track trails and double-wide gravel paths. There will be one aid station at mile three.}
La Sportiva 10K @ 10,000 feet
9am ~ Top of the Lionshead Gondola
{This race begins and ends at Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain and takes runners on some of the most scenic single track Vail Mountain has to offer. With an elevation gain of 1,172 feet and an average grade of 7 percent, runners will test their agility and strength on famed trails including Kloser's Klimb, Ptarmigan Loop and the Grand Traverse.}
La Sportiva EverGold Trail 10K
(Behind the Gold Peak Children's Center)
9am ~ Vail Golf Club
{New this year, the course will take runners from the Vail Golf Club on the Vail Trail and then onto lower portions of Vail Mountain's trail system, including a mix of single track, Forest Service roads and portions of the popular Berry Picker trail. Runners will experience an average grade of 11 percent and gain nearly 1,900 feet in elevation throughout the race}
