Vail's location high in the Rockies might make it seem like an isolated spot from the rest of the world, but it's actually an easy resort community to access and to get around in. While Interstate 70 makes Vail a convenient two hour drive from Denver International Airport, there are some other easy options.

Greyhound Bus Lines
Offer multiple daily trips to the RTD bus terminal in downtown Denver. From there, the RTD Sky Ride shuttle can transport you to the Denver International Airport. (970.476.5137)

Many travelers also enjoy the convenience of flying directly to the Eagle County Airport, with major airlines providing service to a modern airport located just 30 minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek. On the ground in Eagle, you'll find automobile rentals, a variety of van and shuttle services or a location that makes it just a little easier to convince your friends to come and pick you up.

While in Vail, you'll hardly need a car at all as the community is served by the largest free bus services in the United States.

Vail Transit operates buses serving East Vail, Vail Village, Sandstone, the Vail Golf Course and West Vail/Matterhorn, operating on 20 and 40 minute schedules from early morning until 2 a.m. every day. Schedules become less frequent during the early and later parts of the ski season, but will provide you with easy access to almost every point in the community (970.477.3456 • www.VailGov.com

The county-wide Ecotransit (970.328.3520) bus system also offers low-cost bus service to Avon, Beaver Creek, Edwards and other western county communities, with a variety of early morning and late-night schedules.

After hours or at your own convenience, Vail Valley Taxi (877.829.TAXI (8294) • 970.476.8294) provides 24 hour on-call-and-demand taxi service, as well as baggage and parcel delivery.
