1. Vail Mountain opened on December 15, 1962, boasting 1 gondola, 2 chair lifts, 8 ski instructors and a $5 lift ticket.
2. Since 1962, Vail has become the largest single mountain ski resort in North America, offering guests 34 total ski lifts, 14 of which are high-speed. Guests may experience the mountain in several distinct settings-the Front Side, the Back Bowls, the Game Creek and China Bowls, and the Blue Sky Basin.
3. Vail Mountain is designed for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Of 193 total trails, 18% are beginner friendly, 29% are geared towards intermediate skiers, and 53% are designated as advanced/expert trails.
4. Vail has been designated the #1 ski resort by the readers of SKI Magazine 13 times since 1988.
5. With a European feel, Vail Village and Lionshead Village are designed to accommodate pedestrians, not cars. Take a stroll through the villages, down the heated cobblestone walkways, enjoy firepits and interesting water features.
6. Vail's Renewal. We've been working hard to remain the premier mountain resort in the world. With new
accommodations, expanded retail, exciting restaurant choices and new amenities, we invite you to discover the difference Vail's renewal is making.
7. Ever wonder what makes Vail customer service so superior? Already in its 14th year, the employee customer service program Turn It Up! is the longest running program of its kind in the United States. If you're in town from December to April, be sure to nominate an excellent employee for Premier Impressions, the town-wide, excellence in customer service awards contest and reward them for their efforts.

Vail Mountain - Coveted as North America's top ski resort, Vail is an extraordinary winter vacation destination. Spanning seven miles are seven legendary Back Bowls, blanketed last year with thirty-eight feet of powder snow. Under blue sky three hundred days a year and with more groomed terrain than anywhere on the planet, families reconnect and celebrate here from year to year and generation to generation. Vail's Back Bowls feature seven wide-open bowls of powder paradise-and that's just one-third of the total terrain. The Front Side boasts more than 128 individual trails, while Blue Sky Basin features 645 acres of adventure terrain.
Vail Snowsports School - Let Vail's top Snowsports School instructors show you how to have the best day on the slopes right from the start as you explore the sprawling 5,289 acres.
Our Children's Snowsports School is designed to introduce your little ones to a lifetime of skiing or snowboarding with on-snow programs for 3 year olds and up. Our mini-jibber lesson program introduces 5-6 year olds to snowboarding on gently sloped terrain, specifically designed for beginners.
Enlist the help of one of our experienced instructors to help you take your skiing to the next level, or simply help you and your friends or family to navigate the mountain with a private lesson.
After Hours at Eagle's Nest - Skiing and snowboarding aren't the only fun to be had on the mountain. In the afternoon, head up to Adventure Ridge at the top of the gondola for ski-biking, tubing, snowshoe tours, bungee trampoline and more.
Join us on select evenings for a Western Family Dinner Theater. You and your family will enjoy a buffet style dinner and the entertaining stories and shenanigans of the Buckaroo Bonanza Bunch.
If you are looking for a truly unique dining experience, visit our mountain-top European chalet-Game Creek Restaurant. Enjoy distinctive American cuisine, an extensive wine list, and superior service complimented by a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Off The Mountain - Be sure to explore Vail Village and Lionshead where you can shop, dine, dance and relax just steps from your accommodations. Or visit one of our many spas to rejuvenate your body and soul.
