Cherry Creek State Park, surrounded by the Denver metro area, offers a recreational oasis. The park’s 35 miles of multi-use trails, including 15 miles of paved trails, are abuzz daily with hikers, walkers, bikers, and people just enjoying the park. Snowshoeing or cross-country skiing is popular in the winter. Water skiers, anglers, and boaters enjoy the cool waters of Cherry Creek Reservoir. Anglers will find walleye, trout, crappie, bass, perch, bluegill, and more. On warm weekends the beaches are popular. Stop by the Cherry Creek Shopping Center when you have had your fill at the park.

The campground has 133 modern campsites some of which are seasonal. Amenities include an amphitheater, marina, boat ramps, model airplane field, a shooting range, horse rental, picnic facilities, and dog off-leash area. Because of its proximity to Denver, Cherry Creek can be very crowded, so make plans. The diversity of wildlife makes the park a wonderful site for nature viewing. Bird watching is popular which includes shorebirds, songbirds, and raptors, bald and golden eagles, American white pelicans, white-faced ibis, and a mix of prairie and woodland songbirds. — Back to All State Parks.
