Join The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) and Orbit Service for the first of two nights in Denver on their 2022 “The Museum of Human Happiness Tour” with The Drood, Mudwulf and DizyPixl performing live at The Mercury Cafe starting at 8pm.The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) are an Anglo-Dutch experimental rock band formed in London in August 1980. In 1984, the band moved to Amsterdam, playing with rotating musicians and having, as core members, singer/songwriter/keyboardist Edward Ka-Spel and keyboardist Phil Knight. As of 2012, the group is composed of Edward Ka-Spel (vocals, keyboards, songwriter), Phil Knight (keyboards, electronics), Erik Drost (guitars) and Joep Hendrickx (live sound engineer). Although outside the mainstream, LPD have released more than 40 albums, have a devoted worldwide following, and tour frequently.Orbit Service is the long standing solo project of Colorado artist Randall Frazier. With deep ambient sound and melody punctuated by organic, measured beats and existential musings, Orbit Service creates a unique atmosphere described as “the sense of uncertainty as a powerful creative statement”.The Drood is an Electronic-Rock band from Colorado who pull creatively from the fringes of Post-Rock, Psychedelic, Shoegaze, Industrial and more. Their music conjures an other-worldliness intensity which seeks to speak to the soul; a fascinating overlap of mysticism and skepticism, inspiration and despair.

He is best known for his work with the band The Legendary Pink Dots, which he co-founded. He is also known for his work on The Tear Garden with Skinny Puppy‘s cEvin Key. In 2017, he collaborated with Amanda Palmer on the album I Can Spin a Rainbow.Dead Voices on Air is Mark Spybey’s experimental and industrial project formed after his departure from Zoviet France. Spybey has collaborated with artists such as Not Breathing and cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy. This very special Denver show will feature new versions of songs that Mark Spybey has contributed to over the years: including songs from his work with Download, Beehatch and of course Dead Voices on Air. For this performance he will be joined by Denver based musicians Nathan Jamiel and Daniel Watts from the band The Drood.

Jeeyoon Kim, Classical Pianist

The Fremont County Community Concert Association will present its second concert of the season on Thursday, November 3rd, at 7 P.M. in the Canon City H.S. Auditorium, 1313 College Ave. Award-winning classical pianist Jeeyoon Kim will perform. Ms. Kim has delighted audiences across the United States and the world with her combination of sensitive artistry, broad emotional range, impeccable technique and engaging and innovative concert experiences, including beautiful videos to complement the music. From the start of her career, beginning with her celebrated 2016 debut album, “10 More Minutes”, Jeeyoon has thrilled classical music fans with her artful performances.Jeeyoon began studying the piano when she was just four years old, and her love of music propelled her through her undergraduate studies in piano performance in her native Korea. After moving to the United States, she received her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance with Distinction from Indiana University’s renowned Jacobs School of Music.In pursuit of a deeper understanding of music education, she earned a second master’s degree in piano pedagogy from Butler University where she concurrently served as a faculty member. As a testament to Jeeyoon’s abilities as an educator, she was recognized with the ‘Top Music Teacher Award’ from Steinway & Sons for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018. She was also a Double Gold Medal winner for Emerging Artist and Instrumentalist at the Global Music Awards in 2018.Jeeyoon has shared her fresh perspective on classical piano performance with audiences at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Chamber Music Society in San Francisco and Stradivari Society in Chicago. Her fast-growing podcast, Journey through Classical Piano, is dedicated to helping people of all musical tastes and backgrounds discover the beauty of classical music. Its 15-minute episodes feature concert-like musical experiences and in-depth exploration of classical compositions.Jeeyoon is an art activist, author, educator, public speaker, podcaster and award-winning performer. August 2021 she published her first book, “Whenever You’re Ready”, offering readers a personal glimpse into her life. This self-help book in a concert-style structure shares wisdom and insights gained from Jeeyoon’s musical experiences. After a successful reception throughout North America and Europe, the book was also published in South Korea in June of 2022, translated into Korean by the author herself. Jeeyoon Kim currently resides in San Diego where she happily practices her piano daily, maintains a studio full of dedicated piano students, and surfs each morning at sunrise.Season memberships: $60 for this and three other varied concerts. The Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO) presents The Faun and the Firebird, performing two iconic works by Debussy and Stravinsky. The afternoon begins with José Pablo Moncayo’s Huapango, a colorful interpretation of the dance-like style of traditional huapango music from Veracruz. DYAO will also breathe life into R. Schumann’s piano concerto featuring Nathan Lee, an award-winning young artist who connects with his audiences by sharing a depth of musical expression well beyond his years.

Our season concludes on April 29 with another world premiere, this time by the 2022 CU Composition Competition winner, Jessie Lausé. Two members of the celebrated Takàcs String Quartet, Harumi Rhodes and Richard O’Neill, are the soloists in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. Following this piece for duo plus orchestra, Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht is the story of two people being transformed by their love for each other.
