Opening of Textiles: Exploring Boundaries

Free Admission Day

Visitors will enjoy free admission to the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures on Saturday, Dec. 17. The free admission day is sponsored by ClothRoads. In the Museum’s Main Gallery, “Textiles: Exploring Boundaries” showcases extraordinary fabrics and cloths as well as examines our assumptions and perceptions about what constitutes a textile. The Alex Meixner Duo

Friday, April 29th, at 7 p.m., in the Canon City H.S. auditorium, 1313 College Avenue, accordion wizard Alex Meixner and his talented guitarist, Rory Hoffman, return to Canon City to offer an energetic, fun-filled performance. Alex knows how to make his instrument sing and dance with joy and enthusiasm and brings his audiences right along on a musical journey through all kinds of music. He has performed traditional ethnic music since he was four years old and has extensive experience in a wide variety of musical genres – everything from classical to jazz to pop music from around the world. Alex Meixner is a Grammy-nomination musician with performances on more than 50 albums, including 17 where he was the bandleader or soloist.Tickets are $20 for the concert and will be available at the door prior to the concert. Students 18 and under receive complimentary admission. Guests are encouraged to turn off their phones, quiet their voices and tap into their own mindfulness at this after-hours Zoo event.
For this evening, the Zoo will embrace only the sounds of our animals and surrounding nature. Come prepared for a peacefully quiet evening away from the commotion of the city below.

In honor of Mother’s Day and graduating seniors, Moms and graduates will enjoy free admission on Saturday, May 7, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. In the Main Gallery, “Girl Scouts Impact the World” explores the history of Girl Scouts since the organization’s founding in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. Youth Ski League Championships

Youth Ski League (YSL) is the earliest developmental branch of U.S. Ski & Snowboard for aspiring Alpine ski racers. YSL introduces young ski racers to the competition experience, to learn, progress, and have fun.The YSL Championship will take place on Lower Hughes and will encompass age classes U8, U10, U12, U14, and U16 competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom. These races will focus on the FUNdamentals of ski racing. The Championships will feature one Giant Slalom run, one Slalom run and a Skills Quest activity. Races will be on Lower Hughes and Skills Quest on Larry Sales.

Join us for a mountain adventure at Aspen Snowmass! The Anon 4 MTN Mission will take teams on an adventure across the four ski areas of Aspen Snowmass and participants will earn prizes along the way. Join us for a mountain adventure at Aspen Snowmass! The Anon 4 MTN Mission will take you on an adventure across the four ski areas of Aspen Snowmass. From March 25th to April 3rd participants are invited to explore parts of our four mountains that you might not have otherwise.

Teams of 2 or more will use a mobile phone app to navigate between designated check points on Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountain. The check points are assigned a point value and the goal is to collect at least 200 points to be eligible for prizes from our sponsors.
