Fright Night at the Fort

Come for spooky ghost tours of Fort Garland Museum with stories told by local authors and storytellers including Jack Rudder, author of Ghosts of Fort Garland. We invite visitors to bring their own spooky stories to share as well, because we will have local podcast host, Brad Hicks onsite to record some new content for the Spooky SLV Podcast.Also enjoy food, games, and prizes at our Halloween Carnival hosted in collaboration with the Sierra Grande High School Student Council.
The Carnival runs from 4:00-7:00pm. Ghost tours begin at 5:00 pm, with tours running every 30 minutes.

Carnivale Weekend

Returning in 2023 is the Manitou Springs Carnivale Weekend! Join us for the Mumbo Gumbo Jumbo Cook-Off and the Carnivale Parade. Local shops and restaurants will also be offering some sweet deals and food specials (to hopefully include some warm, tasty gumbo!).Dress up, dress down, and don’t forget to don your feathered masks while you enjoy all that Manitou Springs has to offer.

Emma Crawford Coffin Races and Festival

In 1995, the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce started the first coffin races in the nation, in memory of a beloved member of Manitou Springs. In the years since, the races have grown into an often-copied-but-never-equaled Manitou Springs tradition.

Exploring el Día De Los Muertos

Exploring el Día De Los Muertos

Join us on October 7th for an opportunity to explore the history and culture of an iconic celebration that takes place in multiple Spanish speaking countries in Latin America including the United States.El Día de los Muertos is a historical cultural celebration that takes place in the fall to honor the lives of loved deceased family members.Participants will have an opportunity to participate in a short lecture to learn about the history and purpose of this celebration. Participants will participate in various hands-on activity stations such as: making and decorating sugar skulls, creating papel picado, and making crepe paper marigolds.This workshop will be facilitated by Javier Gonzalez; Sierra Grande High School Spanish Teacher, Maria Fleming; Sierra Grande K-12 Art Teacher, and high school Spanish/Art Club students.Activity is free but space is limited.

Create Your Own Ofrenda

Create Your Own Ofrenda

Create Your Own Ofrenda, a free workshop for ages 8-15, will be offered from 10:30-11:30 am Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. Youth are invited to design their own altar to honor a deceased loved one, which can be a relative, friend, pet, or someone admired like a hero or heroine. All materials will be provided, with participants encouraged to bring a photograph of their loved one. Reservations are not necessary, and light refreshments will be served. Tales of Terror & Tease

The Champagne Cabaret is honored to have been sponsored by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region for October Arts Month. Tales of Terror & Tease is a unique fusion of theatre and burlesque like nothing that you have ever seen before. This 2 hour show is based upon 6 different classic Halloween stories as well as 6 different modern horror movies. With a cast of over 30 performers, and starring the world famous Glamorous Blonde herself, Bunny Bee, this production will need two nights to do it justice. Dress up in your favorite Halloween costume if you’d like, and come out for an amazing immersive theatre experience!
