In 1995, the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce started the first coffin races in the nation, in memory of a beloved member of Manitou Springs. In the years since, the races have grown into an often-copied-but-never-equaled Manitou Springs tradition.

The Help&Hope Center provides assistance to our neighbors in Douglas and Elbert counties who are in serious economic need, at risk of homelessness, or in a similar crisis.
Kids Adventure Games
What started as a backyard fun obstacle course for a few kids turned into a nationwide ADVENTURE RACE series spanning over a decade thanks to a dedicated team of outdoor professionals, who put on a n Eco Challenge/Mountain Games – style race for kids.Now in its 14th year, the Kids Adventure Games is returning to Vail Village August 10-14, 2023. Stepping into tomorrow with extra appreciation for our environment, teamwork, grit & confidence., with an awesome partner & community of friends. This experience truly does last a life time.In teams of two, participants compete together by bike, in water and on foot through a 2.5-4 mile course featuring up to 15 man made and natural obstacles. Races are limited to 130 teams per day. The Kids Adventure Games is more than a race, it’s an event for the whole family to enjoy!
Christmas Mountain 5 Mile Run
Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend and the lighting of Christmas Mountain in Salida with a 5 mile race! Course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida. Race course is very scenic and flat (around 160 feet of elevation gain) and takes place on city and county roads and gravel or concrete pedestrian paths. This event is designed for all runners, and we encourage all ages and abilities to come out! Packet pickup, post race drinks and snacks, and awards will also take place in Riverside Park in downtown Salida. Race begins at 10am, giving participants time to sleep in after Thanksgiving, and then relax with friends and family before heading back to downtown Salida for the lighting of Christmas Mountain. Festivities in town associated with this event include the annual Christmas Mountain parade, beginning at 6pm, followed by fireworks. This is one of Salida’s biggest and most celebratory nights each year. The goals of this event are to encourage health, fitness, fun, and community connection around the Thanksgiving holiday; to offer another competitive racing opportunity in Chaffee County; and to raise money during the holiday season for the Chaffee County Community Foundation. Prize money (TBD for 2022) will be offered to the top 3 W/F overall, along with the first place M/F masters runner (ages 40+). Day of the Dead 5K/10K
The Day of the Dead 5K and 10K is an event to celebrate tradition, unity and community. This holiday is not one that focuses on death, but rather the celebration of life. Honor the tradition through a fun morning of fitness and friends by joining us at Denver’s City Park. One of Durango’s most popular running races, the Turkey Trot presented by Animas Surgical Hospital is a 30-year holiday tradition for the whole family. Labor Day Half Marathon, 10K, 5K
The Labor Day Half Marathon will take place at Salisbury Park in Parker. The race will travel through the park and onto the Cherry Creek Trail. The entire course is paved.
