SUMMARY:JULY 29 – What African Cities Can Teach Us About Sustainability 6 PM
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability looks different everywhere\, and it starts in communities. Join us in a dive into African sustainability through a talk presented by Joy Eghosa-Ewone. This program will be a discussion-oriented presentation\, with visual storytelling\, to engage and reflect about how sustainability can look different across socities\, and what communities in the Global North might learn from African urban experiences. \nAmong African cities and communities they are developing creative\, adaptive\, and community centered approaches to sustainability. These changes invite global conversations on environmental transformations. They are using innovation\, resilience\, policy experimentation\, traditional knowledge\, and everyday sustainability practices emerging across different urban contexts on the continent. \nEnjoy small Nigerian snacks and some refreshments throughout the talk\, and engage in an audience discussion and Q&A following the talk. \nJoy is a Ph.D. candidate at Colorado State University\, specializing in African environmental policy. Originally from Nigeria\, she brings a global perspective to sustainability and community leadership. As a Rotaract CSU leader\, Joy is committed to fostering international understanding and celebrating diverse cultures through her board position at the Global Village Museum.

SUMMARY:Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives
DESCRIPTION:Recommended if you like: Daniel Donato\, Steve Young\, Kenny Vaughan\, Jim Lauderdale\, Bill Kirchen \nIn a career spanning over 50 years\, dozens of albums\, and too many shows to count\, Marty Stuart still charts a course through new territory at every chance possible. The five-time GRAMMY® Award winner\, Congress of Country Music Founder\, Country Music Hall of Famer\, and AMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient has left an indelible mark on successive eras of country music and culture. He went from accompanying Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash to launching a storied solo career highlighted by classic albums such as the Gold-certified Hillbilly Rock and Platinum-certified This One’s Gonna Hurt You as well as GRAMMY® Award-winning anthems\, including “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’” [with Travis Tritt] and “Same Old Train.” Immersing himself in the world of film and television\, he notably scored All The Pretty Horses\, garnering a Golden Globe® Award nomination for “Best Original Score” and earning GRAMMY® Awards in the category of “Best Country Instrumental Performance” for “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” and “Hummingbyrd.” Recently\, 2023’s Altitude incited widespread critical applause. Of the latter\, Associated Press applauded how\, “Guitarist Kenny Vaughan\, drummer Harry Stinson and bassist Chris Scruggs match Stuart’s guitar virtuosity\, with thrilling results\,” and American Songwriter attested\, “Altitude finds Stuart putting his own stamp on a traditional vein of country.” NPR put it best\, “For millions\, Marty Stuart is the very image of country music—splendid jackets\, musical mastery and his respect for country’s traditions and a good jolt of humor.” You’d be hard pressed to find a corner of country music he hasn’t impacted though. Speaking to his influence\, he hosted the long-running fan favorite television series The Marty Stuart Show and notably remains a member of the Country Music Foundation and Grand Ole Opry. Moreover\, the Country Music Hall of Fame inducted him during 2020. He also curated and launched Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music in Philadelphia\, MS\, preserving and celebrating the genre and its history. Joined by his longtime band The Fabulous Superlatives\, he cruises into another stratosphere with his first-ever full-length double LP of original instrumentals entitled\, Space Junk. The cover art of Space Junk is a painting by Stuart’s longtime hero and pal\, Herb Alpert\, leader of the Tijuana Bass\, a group Stuart considers to be one of the greatest instrumental bands of all time. The inimitable interplay between Marty\, Kenny Vaughan\, Harry Stinson\, and Chris Scruggs fuels this cosmic cowboy trip with sun-kissed surf guitar\, breezy California rhythms\, soul stirring steel\, and fluid fretwork all-around. Space Junk sounds like country music’s preeminent band crash landing on a Malibu beach and performing the most epic jam you’ve ever witnessed by starlight…

In the late 1960s\, these founding members were driven by a shared desire to preserve town’s architectural heritage\, while also nurturing the vibrant artistic spirit taking root in the valley. \nGuided by this vision\, the Society organized the first Crested Butte Arts Fair in 1971. The event created an annual platform for local artists to share their work\, earn income\, and connect with the broader community\, enriching cultural life in an otherwise rural setting. What began as an informal gathering of mostly local artisans selling handmade crafts has since evolved into one of the most respected and competitive juried fine art shows in the Western United States.

SUMMARY:Polyrhythmics @ Downtown Louisville Street Faire
DESCRIPTION:Polyrhythmics sound originated in the Seattle underground deep funk scene combining impossibly tight grooves with bold brass and hypnotic percussion that showcased elements of R&B\, progressive jazz\, and Afrobeat which defined their early era sound. Now on their thirteenth year as a recording project and touring ensemble\, their sound continues to evolve following six full length albums\, several EPs and live releases. The virtuosic musicianship and musical conversation built on a relentless touring schedule of the previous decade has led them to a brand of psych-funk that fills a room with an impending mood where anything could happen. \nFor 26 years Front Street in Louisville has come alive in the summer with the magic of friends\, family\, community and live music. Enjoy tasty food\, cold drinks\, lots of activities for the kids\, quality arts\, crafts and sundries. Thanks to our awesome sponsors\, this event is FREE.

SUMMARY:Emo Night Brooklyn
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Emo Night Brooklyn\, a late-night\, DJ-driven dance party blasting the best emo and pop punk jams that raised us\, ruined us\, and somehow still define us. We’re taking over Federal Theatre in Denver on 31 July 2026 for a night of screaming every word\, moshing with strangers\, and feeling absolutely everything. \nThis is not a quiet night out. Expect wall-to-wall emo and pop punk anthems\, deep cuts\, and songs you still know by heart even if you pretend you’ve “moved on.” From the tracks that got you through your worst years to the ones that still hit a little too hard\, Emo Night Brooklyn is all about losing your voice\, finding your people\, and reliving the music that made us who we are. And yeah sometimes special guests and your favorite artists even jump in to join the chaos. \nCome ready to scream\, mosh\, dance\, cry in the corner (no judgment)\, and throw yourself into the pit with all your favorite people. Tell the DJs what you want to hear and we promise we listen better than your ex. It’s loud\, it’s emotional\, and it’s the kind of night that reminds you it was never just a phase. \nSo get ready\, Denver. Lace up your boots\, warm up your vocal cords\, and meet us in the pit at Federal Theatre on 31 July 2026. Emo Night Brooklyn is calling — and yes\, we need every soul.

SUMMARY:SYML
DESCRIPTION:Recommended if you like: Noah Cyrus\, Gregory Alan Isakov\, Richy Mitch & Coal Miners\, Hozier\, Daughter\, Patrick Watson\, Novo Amor\, Lord Huron SYML is the solo venture of Seattle artist Brian Fennell. Welsh for “simple”— he makes music that taps into the instincts that drive us to places of sanctuary\, whether that be a place or a person. Fennell’s latest offering\, Nobody Lives Here\, marks his clearest\, crispest writing. Written\, recorded\, and produced by him and his longtime collaborator Brian Eichelberger\, it is fueled by the keen understanding that life is a contradiction\, a fleeting moment. But as we accept the presence of loss\, we can still welcome others into our space with melody\, lyrics\, a slide guitar\, or a cello’s hum. His sense of humanity is his musical compass. As an artist\, Fennell takes license to both gut and be gutted. “If the dark inspires the good\, that’s a good thing to be honest about\,” he says. He released his self-titled debut album in 2019\, which includes the multi platinum song “Where’s My Love” and the Gold Record fan favorite “Girl.” His 2023 sophomore album\, The Day My Father Died\, described by NPR as “euphoric\,” was recorded at Studio X with renowned producer Phil Ek and features collaborations with Elbow’s Guy Garvey\, Lucius\, Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek\, and Charlotte Lawrence. His music has become the soundtrack to countless films and TV shows and was used by Lana Del Rey on the song “Paris\, TX\,” from her Grammy-nominated 2023 album. With over four billion streams\, the multi-platinum artist looks at grief\, loss\, mortality\, and the passing of time directly in the eye\, unwavering and harmonious. In 2024\, SYML launched the imprint\, FIN. Recordings\, a collaboration with his label\, Nettwerk Music Group\, and management Good Harbor Music

He performed in the first annual student Lago de Conciertos in the fall semester\, playing his song The Man in Black II. He is now seeking an opportunity to spread his message even further to an audience that will have him. \nSimilar to the classic styles of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson\, Wolfla is\, at his core\, a country singer. However\, elements of Grunge and Metal are found throughout his music\, especially on his most recent album\, “Last Dance in the West\,” with downtuning and harmonies reminiscent of Alice in Chains. His recent song “The Man Approaches” has a truly grand sense with stacked vocals and a wide sound. The chorus is truly something to behold.
