Run to the Shrine
Join us on Saturday, May 18 or Sunday, May 19, 2024 for Run to the Shrine, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s annual fundraiser run/walk. This 4-mile casual run/walk winds through the Zoo and up to Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, with giraffe, lions and elephants along the way. Enjoy stunning views of Colorado Springs below while ascending nearly 1,000 feet in elevation, before descending back down into the Zoo. Run to the Shrine is the ONLY time foot traffic is allowed on Shrine Road. Participants will start the ascent at their leisure, and there will be no official timing services.
The race is a great route for competitive athletes, weekend warriors, casual walkers and families of all ages.
Run to the Shrine registration includes evening Zoo admission until 8 p.m. and a commemorative T-shirt featuring our river otter mascot. All proceeds help feed and care for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s animals. Since the Zoo is a nonprofit that does not receive any tax support, community fundraisers like Run to the Shrine help keep the Zoo “running.”
To register and get all the details (or to volunteer), visit cmzoo.org/run. Registration is open now! Military, senior, youth and Zoo member discounts are available.
